Homebuilder keeps it in the family

Ben Scarff and Ashleigh Caddick were looking to buy their first home together, but had been unable to find anything – until Ben’s mum, Bellway sales adviser Angela, stepped in and showed them the national homebuilder’s Stonegarth development in Monk Bretton.

The home that mum Angela showed them was a three-bedroom semi-detached Beswick, which Ben and Ashleigh both loved. Priced from £167,995, it featured agenerous living room, which leads onto an open-plan kitchen and dining room, elegant French doors onto the rear garden and three generously sized bedrooms. Ben said; “We were thinking about moving for a little while, so when my mum suggested we come and have a look at the Bellway development we thought why not? And we were both glad we did. We really loved the layout and size of the home, and the development itself is great. We also felt very lucky we were able to see the actual home we purchased before moving in, rather than just seeing the show home.”

Ben and Ashleigh made use of the Government’s popular Help to Buy scheme, which meant they only needed to put down a 5% deposit on the property. This meant they were able to buy their first home together with a deposit of just over £8,000.

“Bellway were fantastic,” added Ben. “Obviously the contact with my mum was great, but aside from that, everyone who works on the site has been incredibly helpful. And the move was quick, easy and, thanks to the Help to Buy Scheme, a lot cheaper than we ever thought it would be.”

Stonegarth comprises of a variety of three and four-bedroom homes located in Monk Bretton village. It boasts brilliant connections to Barnsley centre, which offers a range of restaurants, bars and entertainment venues. There is also easy access to major road links such as the M1 and A628.
