Historic Leeds town hall opens doors for heritage event

The history behind a landmark south Leeds building has been revealed.

Morley Town Hall opened its doors on Saturday as part of the nationwide Heritage Open Day..

Residents and visitors were given guided tours of the town hall’s historic rooms, including the courtroom and the large and small banqueting rooms.

Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Morley, Councillors Roger and Christine Bell, also welcomed visitors to the Mayor’s Parlour during the tours at the weekend. And there was also a chance for visitors to learn more about the town hall and the district’s past and delve into a history display by Morley Community Archives.

The Heritage Weekend event at the town hall, in Queen Street, was organised by Morley Town Council’s Community Development Committee, in partnership with Morley Community Archives.
