A FORMER Castleford cinema is to go under the hammer during a property auction at Leeds United’s Elland Road ground.

The historic Castleford Picture House on Station Road will go under the hammer from 2pm on October 18 at the Auction House Property Auction West Yorkshire event in the Norman Hunter Banqueting Suite.

The Picture House, which first opened in 1921 and had a cinema along with a ballroom and stage facilities, closed in 1964.

Since then it has been run as a bingo hall, cafe bar, and most recently The Picture House pub, bar and nightclub. The building, which was damaged by a fire in January, has a guide price of £150,000.

It includes office space and a nightclub on the first and second floors.
