Pudsey will continue to celebrate its links with Children in Need by creating a giant image of the charity's famous bear, all made of 2p coins.

The charity mascot was famously named after Pudsey, thanks to its designer, Joanna Lane.

She decided to name the treasured figure after her home town, where her grandfather, Irvine Ball, had been mayor of the town in 1950

Children In Need takes place tomorrow, and to celebrate, Pudsey Leisure Centre will be collecting 2p coins for the charity, which will be placed in the main hall in a giant shape of Pudsey Bear.

The mascot himself will also be there throughout the day, and there will be bouncy castles to keep youngsters entertained.

A spokesperson for the leisure centre said the BBC would be filming the attempt throughout the day for a timelapse video that will be later shared on social media.

“You do not need to book a time, just turn up,” the spokesperson said. “If you are really busy and can’t wait, you can leave coins with us to place.”
