A GP practice in west Leeds is set to move to a new building after plans were approved by Leeds City Council.

Work on the new premises for The Gables Medical Centre in Pudsey is due to start in November, with the practice moving to their new home on Swinnow Road – 100 metres away from their current base – next summer.

Designed by Leeds-based QAD Architects, the plans include three zones and a pharmacy with its own access.

QAD Director Paul Wainwright said: “The new development will provide a 502 square metre single storey building with flexible, modern facilities that will replace their current, outdated venue.”

The centre’s doctors, Dr Sue May Chen and Dr Gajraj Kargwal, have displayed the proposals in the current centre’s reception area for patients to see.

Dr Kargwal said: “We’re delighted to have got the green light for the project and our new building, once opened next year, will dramatically improve the patient and employee experience.”
