A substance misuse service in Leeds has been told it must improve after inspectors found it was failing to meet some of its legal requirements.
When the Care Quality Commission (CQC) visited St Anne’s Alcohol Services in April, issues were identified with the accommodation for people needing treatment.
The facility in Woodhouse Lane provides a detoxification service and a residential rehabilitation service for adults.
A report, published this week, said the service had breached two Health and Social Care Act regulations relating to safe care and treatment, and good governance.
Issues highlighted included incomplete patient observations, low compliance with mandatory training and failing to manage risk effectively.
However, there was good practice in other areas such as treating clients with respect, having a well maintained environment and its commitment to improving treatment.
A spokesman for St Anne’s said that while not all the issues had been addressed yet, a robust plan had been put in place to bring the service back into full compliance.
“We have now re-written and launched our risk assessment policy and a bespoke training package has been developed for immediate roll out,” he said. “As new clients attend the service their risk assessments are undertaken using the new process.
“St Anne’s now has an increased focus on clients’ physical health checks and observations as well as addressing their detoxification and rehabilitation needs.
“We are taking these actions as a matter of urgency and we are confident that the improvements we are making will lead the service to a return to the standards required as soon as possible.”
The organisation is due to meet with the CQC again on July 6 to demonstrate the progress being made.
At its previous inspection in February 2014, the service met all national standards.
