Passionate practitioners are the linchpins of health care – and we want to hear why your doctor deserves praise.
To recognise the enormous contributions that top class clinicians make to our region, we are calling for readers to nominate their Doctor of the Year for the YEP’s Best of Health Awards for 2016.
Through this category, sponsored by Nuffield Health, we are looking for star doctors, from highly regarded GPs to specialists focusing on particular fields of work.
We want to hear about medics of all levels, from juniors starting their careers to experienced consultants.
Readers have until October 19 to nominate their health heroes in our fifth annual Best of Health Awards, sponsored by Sovereign Health Care.
Nicola Furbisher, editor of the YEP, said she hopes readers will “help us honour some real superstars such as those health workers who play vital roles in our communities”.
Doctor of the Year is one of 10 categories for which we are seeking nominations.
Last year’s winner was Dr Nigel Bew, a GP and senior partner at the Street Lane Practice in Roundhay, Leeds, who was recognised for his gentle nature and dedication to patients, as well as his work supporting the training of new GPs.
Our other categories aim to praise the likes of carers, midwives, nurses, emergency response and mental health staff.
After the entries close, judges will draw up a shortlist for each category and award winners will be announced at a glitzy ceremony held at The Queen’s Hotel on December 5.
To submit a 200-word nomination online visit jpeventsnorth.co.uk/yep/events/best-of-health-awards.
Alternatively, send nominations to Karen Goodridge-Cross, Yorkshire Post Newspapers, No1 Leeds, 26 Whitehall Road, Leeds, LS12 1BE.
