A giant bird appeal has been sounded by Hunslet Hawks RLFC after its popular mascot Harry the Hawk flew the nest.

A new volunteer, aged over 18, is needed to don the outfit, attend galas, schools and match days. The role is subject to a DBS check and a driving licence is an advantage.

A statement released by the club said any applicants “must be sociable”.

It continued: “If you are over eighteen, are available on match days and can be available for galas, school visits and reenactments of scenes from KES – only kidding about the last bit – then email the club at or call the club office or swoop in personally to see whether you fit the bill.”
