A hapless flytipper inadvertently identified themselves to enforcement officers after leaving their polling card among piles of rubbish.

Leeds City Council's environment team discovered a large amount of waste illegally dumped beneath a footbridge in Holbeck.

And their task of identifying the culprit was made much easier when a search of the household rubbish revealed a polling card that had been thrown away after the June 8 general election.

The cards display a voter's name and full address.
