A Wakefield hairdresser has come up with a quirky new enterprise - combining his city centre salon with a wine and tapas bar.
Customers at 80K, which opens this weekend at The Ridings Shopping Centre, can enjoy the salon’s services while sampling drinks and cold platters of tapas.
Owner Carl Shaw said: “I was working in Italy and came across a hairdressers that doubled as a restaurant. I thought it was a fantastic idea. Numerous clients will spend a considerable amount of time in my salon, so why not offer them something to eat or drink and make it a more enjoyable experience.”
80k will also have a beauty parlour and a children’s photographic studio.
Sara Hassan, marketing manager at The Ridings, said: “We are pleased to welcome 80K to The Ridings. When we heard that the salon would offer dual services, we were really excited about the concept. Here at The Ridings we are always keen to offer our shoppers unique experiences that go beyond shopping.”
To celebrate the launch of 80K, the grand opening this weekend will welcome musicians and fire eaters, and offer refreshments from 3pm until 9.30pm on Saturday and 12.00pm to 9.30pm on Sunday.
