Haçienda dance heritage collides with classical music at Leeds show

And now the The Haçienda’s dance heritage has collided with the world of classical music to form a show which is coming to a stage in Leeds next year.

Haçienda Classical will arrive at the Leeds First Direct Arena on Friday, April 14, 2017 for its first ever performance in the city.

The show sees the DJs who shaped The Haçienda’s sound – Mike Pickering and Graeme Park - collaborate with the Manchester Camerata orchestra for a night of classic dance music, innovatively adapted and arranged especially for the occasion.

Graeme Park said; “I am excited about next year’s tour and the new set. I’m currently enjoying digging deep into my huge record collection to find new tracks for 2017 show and I’m already having heated debates with Mike Pickering about which tracks will work and what we should include in the final mix. There’s such a rich seam of music to mine from the 1980s and 1990s, and it's immense fun trying to decide what will ultimately make the cut. The pressure is on but I’m enjoying it greatly.”

Musical director, conductor and arranger Tim Crooks added: “Hacienda Classical with Manchester Camerata in 2016 set a new benchmark for a live show with DJs, singers and orchestra, and we’re still buzzing from entertaining so many people with it. We’re making the show even better for 2017 - it’s going to be epic!”

Tickets for the Leeds First Direct Arena concert go on sale 10am on Friday, November 25.
