Batley Variety Club Limited has asked to change the use of the building which once hosted musical stars such as Roy Orbison, Dusty Springfield and Shirley Bassey.

The Bradford Road venue first opened its doors in 1967 and was turned into the Frontier club in the 1980s.

Joe Battye, whose family own the club, said they were simply exploring options for the site.

He said: “We have no plans to close the club.”

A public consultation over the proposals for the future of the Batley site will run until March 7.
