Guiseley band Backspace take Battle of Bands title at Kirkstall Festival

Crowds at this weekend's Kirkstall Festival were treated to performances from some of the city's most talented up and coming bands.

Musicians aged between 13 and 19 took to the Youth Stage on Saturday to compete in the Leeds Museums and Galleries Battle of the Bands.

Each had been shortlisted by industry professionals before being invited to perform at Kirkstall Abbey.

Backspace, a young indie rock band from Guiseley, went on to take the overall title after impressing on the day.

Acoustic duo Stealing Tamar, who were among the judges, praised the acts on social media.

“There was some amazing young talent there,” they said. “Well done to the winners Backspace – you were ace!”

Sharing their success with fans online, Backspace said: “We are all delighted! Thanks to the judges, organisers and all the other great bands taking part.”
