A special constable who was injured by a bottle thrown by demonstrators in Leeds has released photos of his injuries.

The volunteer officer was policing a demonstration by far-right group the Yorkshire Patriots on Saturday afternoon.

Arrests at demonstration in Leeds
Trouble broke out near Kirkgate Market when a counter-march organised by an anti-racist group blocked the route. Around 1,000 people took part in total.

Although police said the event did not descend into 'serious disorder', there were several incidents of missiles being thrown and three people were arrested.

They were detained for theft, obstructing a police officer and public order offences. Dispersal orders were also served.

The special constable was taken to hospital after being hit on the head by a bottle in an 'unprovoked' attack.

He has now been discharged but will return to hospital for follow-up treatment,
