Grief-stricken mother returns to the scene of Leeds horror crash

A grieving mum whose son is believed to have been one of five people killed in a horror car smash returned to the scene of the tragedy this morning.

She was heard saying 'my son was involved' when she first visited the crash site on Sunday - and was allowed through the police cordon again today. In a moving scene, she placed her hand on a tree into which a stolen Renault Clio crashed on Saturday night leaving five dead. The woman, wearing a dark grey overcoat, was accompanied by a younger man who was seen comforting her. The couple inspected the tree which could be clearly seen to have suffered a large section of damage to its base. Investigations today continue into the tragedy which happened at 10pm on Saturday on Stonegate Road in the Meanwood area. Among those confirmed killed in the crash were Ellis and Elliott Kimmitt, aged 12 and 14. A third victim has been named as Darnell Harte, who is thought to be 15. Two men, named locally as Anthoney Armour, 28, and Robbie Meerun, 24, were also killed in the incident. Mr Armour is believed to be a father-of-two whose partner was expecting another child in three weeks. Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous and remained in police custody on Sunday night. The circumstances surrounding how the seven people are linked to the car that crashed remains unclear. Mourners turned out in force over the weekend to lay flowers, light candles and tie balloons around a tree next to the one which the car is believed to have smashed in too. Tributes to the five killed in the tragic collision were moved to the opposite side of the road just before 9am today to allow forensics to comb the crash site. One floral tribute read: "My boys who are now flying together, your wings are special in every way. Forever in my heart. Elliott & Ellis." Another read: "Darnell (gone too soon). It just doesn't make sense. "Hope now you're at some peace. Will remember you for your cheekiness. RIP." One read: "Can't believe it, you've been taken so soon. Heaven's gained an angel." Another read: "RIP Elliott & Ellis. Two beautiful boys taken too soon. We will never forget you both and love you both forever + always. "Sleep tight boys. Annmarie, Wayne, Leighton, Nytah, Nevaeh." One also read: "Together forever. Fly high boys." There is a white candle with a love heart and the words: "Thinking of use boys, love Shan and Andi xxxx."
