Greek deli expands to open Adel restaurant

A popular Greek deli which sources ingredients rarely found in the UK has opened a new bistro in north Leeds.

Amalthea has added the authentic restaurant to its shop in Adel, which stocks traditional Mediterranean produce.

The family-owned business serves Greek coffees and gourmet snacks during the day, before switching to an orthodox menu of both classic and modern dishes in the evenings.

Head chef Constantine Tsapanidis’s contacts in Greece and experience of working in five-star hotels has enabled him to form an exclusive partnership with an independent supplier who sends items such as olive oils, sauces and organic honey that are difficult to find in the UK.

“Following extensive research into the food and drink market we are able to bring the best Greek products to the UK. I’m a specialist in traditional and modern Greek cuisine,” he said.

The company began as an online store and can now host weddings and corporate events at its site on The Crescent.
