GREAT-GRANDMOTHER Gwen Edmunds has 100 reasons to celebrate.

Centenarian Gwen celebrated her 100th birthday on January 7 and marked the occasion with a party at her residential home near Headingley – complete with a live band. Son-in-law Alan Deacon said: “She is extraordinarily fit and active.

“She loves to dance and enjoys a sing-song.”

Gwen was born in east London during the First World War and came to Leeds in 2013. She has since become the oldest member to join Woodside Methodist Church in Horsforth at 99, and attends every Sunday.

Gwen will celebrate with 80 friends and family today.
