The charity has run out of gifts for these age groups and still has 17,000 youngsters to help. The Mission Christmas appeal, supported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, calls on the people of West Yorkshire to donate new and unwrapped gifts to ensure that no child in the county goes without.

Last year the appeal was a huge success and presents were delivered to a record 22,145 youngsters.

Cash for Kids charity manager Lisa Sullivan said: “We know the readers of the YEP are wonderful supporters of Mission Christmas and we really need their help more than ever this year to make sure this is a happy Christmas for everyone. If you’re shopping this weekend please can you buy one extra gift things like baby grows, bibs, baby socks, baby wipes are ideal for babes and for the teenagers things like toiletry gift sets, hats, gloves, scarves, annuals, board games etc are great.”

You can donate gifts at several drop-off points across the city or alternatively you can donate online or by texting AIRE to 70808.
