Yorkshire songbird Kimberley Walsh will lend a hand, and voice, to the Tour de France Grand Depart by singing on event’s official anthem.

The Bradford-born Girls Aloud singer has joined forces with singer-songwriter Alistair Griffin on his forthcoming single The Road – the official anthem of Yorkshire’s Grand Départ 2014.

The song will celebrate the arrival of the world’s largest annual sporting event coming to Yorkshire for the first time in history.

It is due for official release on June 30 with pre-orders available now at www.letouryorkshire/theroad

Kimberley said: “The Grand Départ coming to Yorkshire for the first time ever is a historic moment and whether you love cycling or not.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“To work with Alistair on the official anthem for the Grand Départ is exciting – it’s an emotional, rousing track that people can sing along to.

Being a Yorkshire girl myself means it has a special resonance with me because it’s my home county.”
