Girl, 9, 'grabbed by man' near Leeds primary school

POLICE are investigating after a young girl was grabbed by a man near to a primary school in Leeds.

The incident happened at around 8.30am yesterday (March 30) on Broadway in Hawksworth, which is near to Hawksworth Wood Primary School near Horsforth.

The nine-year-old girl was due to be interviewed by police later yesterday.

Officers say they are treating the incident as assault.

Extra patrols have been introduced in the area to reassure parents.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Leeds District CID via 101 quoting log number 444 of March 30.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are investigating an incident where a nine-year-old girl was grabbed by the arm

by a man in the area of Broadway, Hawksworth, Leeds, at about 8.30am (yesterday) morning.

“Inquiries are ongoing into the incident, which is being treated as an assault, and officers are due to interview the girl later to establish the full circumstances.

“Officers from the local neighbourhood team have liaised with the girl’s school and are increasing their patrols of the area to reassure the community.”
