The Premier League Show will go out in midweek and is set to feature in-depth interviews with the biggest stars of the beautiful game.

The BBC Two magazine-style programme kicks off on August 25, when Gabby will be joined by former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright.

Another item on the launch show will see Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker meeting Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The bad news for Leeds United fans with an antipathy for clubs on the wrong side of the Pennines is the programme’s location – it will be based at the National Football Museum in Manchester.

But that hasn’t dampened Gabby’s enthusiasm for the venture and she took time out from her presenting duties at Rio 2016 to tweet that she was “looking forward” to it.

BBC Football lead executive Steve Rudge said the new show would form part of an “unrivalled multiplatform offering” for supporters.

He added: “Fans will be led by a stellar cast of presenters, pundits and commentators who will bring them unique analysis and closer to the action than ever before across BBC TV, radio and enhanced digital platforms.”

The daughter of former Leeds and Wales footballer Terry Yorath, Gabby was brought up in the city and attended Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School in Meanwood.

She was a talented gymnast and represented Wales at the 1990 Commonwealth Games before retiring from the sport aged 17.

Gabby’s introduction to broadcasting came when she was invited to do shift work at a Newcastle radio station and she went on to become co-presenter of Metro FM’s breakfast show.
