women are being urged to get their skates on and join Leeds’s roller derby team.

Hot Wheel Roller Derby is looking for the next generation of skaters and referees for the Leeds all-female flat-track team.

The summer recruitment day is taking place at Ramgarhia Sikh Sports Centre, on Chapeltown Road, on Saturday, June 13, between 1pm and 3pm.

Coach John Kirkham, who brought roller derby to Yorkshire almost ten years ago, said: “Roller derby is still a pretty edgy sport here in the UK but it’s widely regarded as the fastest growing women’s sport in the world.”

Applicants for the team must be over 18, no experience necessary and equipment will be made available.

For more details about the open day email info@hotwheelrollerderby.co.uk or visit www.facebook.com/hotwheelrollerderby.
