DRIVERS face delays when a five-week-long scheme to replace ageing gas mains in Horsforth town centre gets underway next week.

Northern gas Networks will start work on the £70,000 scheme to replace around 500m of old metal pipes on Monday March 16.

Church Lane will be closed from the junction of Church Avenue and Town Street from Monday March 30 for around two weeks.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Kerry Hill at its junction with New Street from Wednesday March 18 for around a week.

A diversion route will be clearly signposted and businesses in the area will be open as normal.

Chris Nevison of Northern Gas Networks said: “If you have any questions about the work please contact the customer care team on 0800 0407766, option seven.”
