Leeds United boss Garry Monk has had his flu jab - have you?

The head coach was joined by players Ronaldo Vieira, Matt Grimes and Stuart Dallas at the club’s Thorp Arch training base.

The footballers have linked up with Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust to launch its annual winter flu campaign in a bid to boost take-up rates of the vaccine.

All frontline NHS staff are recommended to have the injection to protect themselves and their families, and it is also available free to over-65s and those with certain medical conditions.

Last year the Trust was the second-best performer in the country for immunisation rates among employees, and this year, just like the United squad, they hope to top the table.

“Leeds United is proud to support the fantastic work of Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. We know only too well that achieving the best results is a team effort. We hope that by giving our backing to the campaign, the Trust is finally able to become the most vaccinated Community Trust in the country,” said Monk.

Dave Hall, lead infection prevention nurse, added:-

“It is particularly important for staff to have the flu vaccine if they are coming into contact with patients. Flu immunisation is one of the most effective ways we can reduce harm from flu and the pressures on health and social care services that it can cause.”
