Funeral for Leeds mum after inspirational battle against cancer

Family and friends of an inspirational Leeds mum who died after a battle with cancer are to gather for her funeral on Friday.

Critical care nurse Rachel Carrack, 35, had sparked a campaign backed by thousands who raised more than £70,000 for her treatment in Germany.

The mum of two, originally from Guiseley, died earlier this month surrounded by her family at a hospice in Bradford.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 3, at noon at St John’s Church in Baildon, followed by a wake at Hoyle Court from 1pm.

“All family and friends new and old are welcome,” her sister Louise Bennett said. “Wear whatever you like to this celebration of Rachel’s life.”

Donations on the day will go to Marie Curie Hospice.

Mrs Carrack, brought up in Guiseley but living in Baildon with husband Matthew and children Freya, four, and Will two, had helped six others fund treatment abroad after setting up a charity Love Hope Trust two years ago.

When she was told last year her own cancer had returned, more than 1,300 people, touched by her story, donated to fund her treatment, raising £77,865.
