Just ask youngsters at The Ridings shopping centre in Wakefield, which is hosting a plethora of activities to keep the young ones entertained.
Mad scientists, pirates, princesses, dinosaurs and The Gruffalo are all playing a par, as part of the centre’s free summer activities.
Events run each Saturday from 11am-3pm on the upper mall. There’s no need to pre-register; families can just turn up on the day and enjoy the activities.
This Saturday there will be a ‘Pirates and Princesses’ day. Come dressed in your best fancy dress outfit and enjoy a craft workshop, as well as pirate storytelling.
On Saturday, August 15, the theme is Seaside in the City, with a fun Punch & Judy show and balloon modelling demonstration.

Sara Hassan, Marketing Manager at The Ridings Shopping Centre said: “It can be hard to find fun activities for the kids to enjoy through the summer holidays, but our free summer activities are bound to get them using their imaginations.
“We’ll be keeping them entertained with mad scientists, pirates and princesses. We also have a seaside-themed fun, a live dinosaur experience and a visit from The Gruffalo scheduled – great fun for every child to enjoy.”
