Frock swap at railway station will raise cash for Leeds Women's Aid

Commuters can take along a good-as-new dress, make a donation of £5 for Leeds Women’s Aid, and take away a new dress.

The event - in partnership with British Transport Police and Network Rail - is aimed at raising awareness of domestic violence while raising cash for the charity, which protects and supports women and children who suffer from domestic violence across the city.

Inspector Caroline Farrow said: “This is not only a great way to grab yourself a new outfit for Valentine’s Day on Sunday, but it’s also about raising awareness of the issue of domestic violence and raising money to support Leeds Women’s Aid, which provides such a vital service for the people of Leeds.

“Your donation of just £5 could provide a pack of essential items for a woman moving into refuge; enable a service user to attend a group for peer support for one week or buy lunch for two drop-in users who would otherwise go hungry. I really hope that the people of Leeds and commuters passing through the station will help us make this event a real success for survivors of domestic abuse.”

The event will be on the station concourse from 8am to 6pm on Thursday, February 11. There will also be a raffle, with prizes including cinema and spa tickets, meal vouchers, Lego, bottles of fizz and top brand perfume.
