Fried chicken restaurant chain Yard & Coop set to open in Leeds

The owners of a fried chicken restaurant brand which has taken Manchester and Liverpool by storm have revealed plans to open in Leeds.

Yard & Coop have launched a Kickstarter campaign with the aim of raising £50,000 for a new site in the city centre.

Members of the public who make 'pledges' are rewarded with free meals, T-shirts and invitations to the launch party.

A backer who gives £1,000 will even receive free chicken for life once the business opens.

All donations are refunded if the campaign does not reach its target by the deadline of December 1.

So far, around £3,000 has been pledged by supporters.

Yard & Coop specialises in buttermilk fried chicken and opened in Manchester in 2015 before expanding to Liverpool. It also has a cocktail menu.

Kickstarters have become a successful tool for businesses to generate funding for new ventures. Last month Manjit Kaur, the owner of award-winning Indian street food stall Manjit's Kitchen, managed to raise the £40,000 she needed to open a new restaurant in Leeds city centre. She currently runs a stall in Kirkgate Market which is restricted to daytime opening hours.
