PUBLIC transport bosses have given people an extra money-saving reason to use the recently-opened Elland Road park-and-ride site in Leeds.

The Leeds City Bus ‘hop on, hop off’ shuttle service that links key locations such as Leeds City Station, Leeds Civic Hall, Leeds General Infirmary and the Merrion Centre normally costs 50p per journey.

But people catching park-and-ride buses from the increasingly-popular Elland Road site into the city centre can now use the shuttles free.

Coun James Lewis, chairman of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority transport committee, said: “A number of people commented that they’d like to be able to travel onto other city centre locations and now by hopping onto the Leeds City Bus with a valid Elland Road park-and-ride ticket, they will be able to do just that.”
