Four arrested after Leeds stolen car chase

At least four people have been arrested after a high-speed police chase involving a stolen car in Leeds.

Around six police cars along with the force’s helicopter were involved in the pursuit through the streets of Chapeltown.

The YEP understands the chase was sparked when a Ford Fiesta, which had been reported stolen from Reginald Street yesterday morning, (Sept 18) was spotted by officers shortly after 8.30pm last night.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said driver sped off along Lewis Street onto Chapeltown Road, where the car was said to be travelling in excess of 60mph in a number of 30mph zones.

The car travelled along Scott Hall Road, and Mexborough Street, Mexborough Grove and Savile Drive.

At least four occupants then jumped out of the vehicle on Reginald Terrace before fleeing from the scene in different directions.

Officers are believed to have made four arrests, two women and two men.

Local residents said one of the men was arrested in the garden of a house on Newton Grove.

Enquiries are ongoing.
