Found: Missing schoolboy Joshua safe and well in Leeds

A 12-year-old boy missing from his home in Rotherham for 24 hours has been found safe and well in Leeds.

Specialist officers had spend the night and day searching for Joshua Oxley, who detectives said may have left home after an “incident” at school.

This evening, South Yorkshire Police tweeted: “12-year-old Joshua Oxley has been FOUND safe and well in Leeds by SYP officers. A massive thank you to all who shared the appeals.”

Earlier, police released CCTV footage from Leeds railway station shows Joshua arriving at the station at 8.17pm last night and walking out of the station.

Further CCTV images showed him at ‘gaming’ shop Red5 in the Core Shopping Centre at 10.45am today.

He had not been seen was since 3.50pm yesterday near to the roundabout over junction 35 of the M1 at Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham.

Police believe he boarded the train at Chapeltown in Sheffield before travelling north to Leeds yesterday evening.
