Firefighters are tonight tackling a blaze at a building in Leeds city centre.

Crews were called to the derelict building, opposite the Yorkshire Evening Post’s old office site on Wellington Street, just before 7pm.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the incident was on the second floor of the boarded-up building.

Five fire crews are in attendance from stations including Leeds, Hunslet and Moortown.

The area immediately around the building is cordoned off but traffic on Wellington Street and other routes in the area appears unaffected by the incident.

There are no reports of any injuries.
