In a number of cases houses had flooded internally but the fire service said only two needed help with pumping out, and in most cases gardens and roads were affected.

Firefighters were also called after lightening caused trees to fall onto two houses.

But they did not take any further action.

Calls started coming in just after 5pm and went on until 8.30pm.
