Fire crews rushed to reports of person in River Aire in Leeds - only to find floating high vis jacket

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire says they were called to the River Aire near Kirkstall Road at 4.18pm on Saturday.

Four fire engines attended the scene from Leeds, Stanningley and Rothwell.

Crews searched the river but by 6.13pm, all crews had left the scene after finding only a high visibility jacket floating in the water.

No person was found in the river and there are no reported injuries.
