Fire breaks out at former youth centre in Wakefield

Firefighters tackled a blaze at a former youth centre in Wakefield.

The fire broke out at the building - now derelict - in Wakefield Road, Normanton, at around 1.30am this morning (Thursday).

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said almost the entire building was ablaze.

Crews from Normanton, Castleford, Featherstone and Wakefield were called to the scene, as well as an aerial appliance from Leeds, to extinguish the fire.
