A restaurant has been fined for dumping a large amount of rubbish in Leeds.

Evidence linking the commercial waste to Doncaster Tandoori was found among the five black bags abandoned on Hunslet Moor.

The restaurant’s owner Sabbir Hussain pleaded guilty at Leeds Magistrates Court to fly tipping and breaching his duty of care for the containment and disposal of waste. He was fined £350, ordered to pay costs of £350 and a victim surcharge of £35.

The court heard that although Doncaster Tandoori had a waste contract with Doncaster Council the restaurant, Hussain decided to transport some of the waste over to Leeds on his way home to the city and to fly tip it next to a litter bin instead.
