Fancy retiring by the seaside?

McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, has announced that work has started on the redevelopment of the former Bramcote School site on Filey Road in Scarborough, which will see it turned into an exclusive new retirement development.

McCarthy and Stone has launched a search for a local charity or neighbourhood project to support in Scarborough and the surrounding areas, as its new Retirement Living Plus development, Sycamore Court, on Filey Road, starts to take shape.

Applicants are urged to get in touch as soon as possible by emailing requests to [email protected] by midnight on Friday 9 February. Please mark your emails ‘Scarborough Community Appeal’ in the subject header.

Liz Green, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone North East, comments: “Our fundamental aim when creating a development is to support and integrate McCarthy and Stone and our future homeowners into the local community. Our developments are created with community in mind, and supporting local charities or neighbourhood projects allows us to create a positive legacy.”

Retirement Living Plus apartments at Sycamore Court will provide the joy of home ownership with the option of assistance and support on hand should homeowners need it. Whether it’s help with chores such as housework or laundry, or just an extra pair of hands, support packages can be tailored to homeowner’s individual needs, and a qualified team and Estates Manager will always be available to help make life easier.

A fully equipped bistro style restaurant will also provide freshly prepared meals daily if homeowners don’t wish to cook in their apartments, and 24-hour emergency call points will be in place for added peace of mind for both homeowners and their families.

All apartments will feature spacious living and dining areas, fully fitted kitchens laid out to make cooking and cleaning as effortless as possible. Luxury shower rooms will provide both style and functionality, and selected apartments will also benefit from their own private terrace or walk out balcony.

Sycamore Court will offer the best of idyllic seaside living for older people in Scarborough. Homeowners will be within easy distance to the local shops such as Boots, Sainsbury’s and Marks and Spencer’s, as well as other gift and novelty stores. The development will also be just 500 yards away from bus stops to take homeowners to the town centre, train station and further afield.

Liz Green continues, “We are confident that this is the right location to improve local housing choice for elderly people in the area, and through our search for charities and local organizations to support in the coming months, we remain committed to helping where we can in other parts of the community that may need it.”
