PLANS have been drawn up for an extension to a secondary school in Morley.

The single-storey extension would provide Fountain Street-based Morley Academy with a new dining hall on a site adjacent to the school’s existing main kitchen.

A document submitted to Leeds City Council as part of an application for planning permission for the scheme says: “The school is struggling to cater for all the pupils within the lunchtime period.

“This is partly down to timescale but also due to the intensity of servings required and then the lack of [space for eating and socialising].”

Council planning officials yesterday said the application was “pending consideration”.
