Ex-Emmerdale star John Middleton got the clippers out at a Harrogate salon to lop off a fundraising customer’s locks.
John - who played Ashley in the ITV soap - dropped into salon Dangerfield and Keane to carry out a sponsored headshave on Andrea Bradley, who was raising funds for Dementia Forward.
The charity supported her as she cared for her mother Elaine Scaife, who had vascular dementia and died in 2014. John hit the headlines earlier this year after his character developed, and died from, dementia.
Andrea, of Keighley, said: “My mum lived with dementia for too long. She needed love, support and care as her health deteriorated I was her main carer. With the help of Dementia Forward, we managed to make her final days as comfortable as possible despite the great torment she experienced.
“They were with me through so many episodes that my mum went through in a way which not only helped my mum, but also helped me to cope. I really could not have managed without their help.
“It is now my turn to help Dementia Forward and do what little I can to give something back.
“I already volunteer a small part of my time helping in one of their wellbeing cafes - something which gives me so much pleasure.
“I am now trying to raise funds and awareness to help their excellent work by having my head shaved. I’d like to thank everyone who’s supporting me, my family and friends, Dangerfield and Keane and, of course, John Middleton, for doing the deed!”
Andrea has already beaten her fundraising target with £565 with more donations still being pledged.
