A former Emmerdale star has appeared in court to deny indecently assaulting a young boy in the 1980s.

Cy Chadwick, 44, who played Nick Bates for more than a decade, was still in the soap when he was alleged to have attacked a boy under 14 between September 1985 and September 1988.

Chadwick, of Leeds, who left the show in the 1990s to work in TV production, is alleged to have assaulted the boy at his parents’ home.

He confirmed his date of birth and address at Leeds Magistrates Court and gave his plea of not guilty during the short hearing today.(Dec 5)

Due to the nature of the alleged crime, JPs made the decision to move his case to Leeds Crown Court.

He was released on bail to appear there later this month.
