A HIGH-RISE block of flats is to be demolished as part of a plan for a housing estate in east Leeds for the over-55s.
Yorkshire Housing has applied to build 148 homes at Swarcliffe estate.
Persimmon Homes wants to put up 73 dwellings on two sites east of Stanks Drive.
Both proposals are part of the Swarcliffe Private Finance Initiative and Regeneration project that aims to revitalise the area.
The Elmet Towers site and another next to the ring road lie in an area of medieval pottery manufacture and West Yorkshire Archaeological Service believes there may still be remains there.
