PARTS of Yorkshire have been covered with a scattering of snow today - but warnings that heavy showers are on the way seem to have eased.

The Met Office had issued a Yellow Warning for snow showers across parts of West Yorkshire throughout Thursday but despite some flurries in the Peak District, to the south and to the far west of the county, it seems as though we have escaped any serious falls.

A statement on the Met Office website this morning warned of "spells of snow likely during the morning" with "accumulations of 1-2 cm snow possible locally at low levels".
