Heavy downpours expected and snow could fall on hills as temperatures drop in Leeds

The spring sunshine is set to make way for heavy downpours as Leeds gets set for a damp weekend.

And the mini-heatwave is definitely no more as temperatures continue to fall to below the season's average. Leeds isn't expected to get much above 10C over the next few days as cold winds sweep across the city.

The start of next week could even see snow fall on higher ground in Yorkshire as May begins with a cold blast.

Apart from the odd shower on the hills, a mostly dry start, but thickening cloud will bring outbreaks of rain from the south during the morning. The odd heavier burst is likely, but rain will become lighter towards evening. Maximum temperature 9C.

Tonight:

Staying mostly cloudy through the evening and night with further rain at times, which may become more persistent again by Saturday morning. Minimum temperature 3C.

A mainly cloudy day with further rain or showers, and with some persistent rain for a time in the south. Some drier and brighter spells likely in the north. Maximum temperature 10C.

Sunday mostly dry, but chilly in strengthening northeast winds. Monday windy, cold, and wet with hill snow and coastal gales. Rain, possible hill snow, and strong winds Tuesday, easing later.
