With little wind today, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning that patchy fog is set to linger across many parts of the region, including the Vale of York.
There were no fog-related delays at Leeds-Bradford airport and the region’s major motorways have been unaffected by the weather.
However a vehicle fire is causing major delays on the A64 between York and Tadcaster. One lane is closed on the westbound carriageway between the junctions with the A1237 York South and the A659 Tadcaster East. The Highways Agency is attending the scene.
Temperatures today are expected to rise to no higher than five degrees with the possibility of light showers on the east coast.
There is more risk of freezing fog tonight when temperatures will reach -5 degrees but the outlook remains good with mild weather forecast for the end of the week and the weekend.
