Enquiries continue to identify body recovered from Leeds Roundhay Park lake

Police are today continuing their enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose body was recovered from the lake at Roundhay Park.

Officers are appealing for information after being called to Waterloo Lake at the beauty spot at around 9.19am yesterday.

A man who was out jogging had seen a body in the water near to the cafe in Park Avenue.

A post-mortem examination is due to be held today. (March 29)

Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District Safeguarding Unit said it is believed the woman is likely to have entered the water some time between Monday nigth and Tuesday morning

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything or who has any information that could assist us. She appears to be around 50 years old and was wearing a black and green dress and a dark blue coat. She has dark greying hair and was wearing glasses.

“We are still in the process of establishing her identity and we would like to hear from anyone who recognises the description or thinks they know who it might be.”
