“Gardening remains a hugely popular pastime and making the most of our outdoor spaces is a trend that continues to grow as homeowners invest in heating, lighting and seating so that their gardens can be enjoyed during all weather conditions,” said Sarah Whinfrey regional sales manager Miller Homes Yorkshire. “With a little inspiration, a fantastic area can be created where the outside merges with the inside making it a great space for relaxing and entertaining.”

Some top tips include;

Opting for garden sofas rather than a formal dining table and chairs is perhaps one of the best investments. You may find that you use the area more because you can relax, and if it is out on your patio permanently, you don’t have to take it from the shed or garage as soon as the weather is warm.*As darkness falls around 10pm even in the height of summer lighting your garden and seating area brings a whole new dimension to it. Lanterns, LED candles and solar powered lighting can all add warmth safely, especially important where young children and pets are present.Pizza ovens are highly desirable this season and have been cited as one of the most popular items on couples wedding lists! We think they offer a great opportunity to cook for your friends and family whilst chatting and make a welcome change from the archetypal British barbeque.Try and make the outdoor space flow with the interior of your home. Perhaps emulate the colour scheme, create interest with pots, planting and water features and don’t be afraid to use outdoor accessories, such as cushions, to make it stylish and comfortable.

“The idea is to create a welcoming outdoor space that is practical and can be utilised by everyone in the family,” said Sarah. “Coupled with some of this season’s biggest colour trends such as coral, navy and yellow – all of which complement a green English garden – a truly special space can be created where happy times can be enjoyed together.”

Miller Homes’ developments across the region offer a variety of homes from two bedroom to five bedroom properties.
