Residents across the city can enjoy a spot of afternoon tea with the Lord Mayor of Leeds as part of a special charity event next month.
oun Judith Chapman is hosting a tasty menu of sandwiches, scones, cakes and patisseries at the city centre’s newest afternoon tea venue, Creams, in aid of her chosen charity Specialist Autism Services (SAS).
Guests can snap up bargain tickets for the price of £10 per person, to help boost the coffers of the worthy cause, which supports adults with autism spectrum conditions in Leeds.
The Lord Mayor said she is really looking forward to attending the special afternoon tea, which will be held on Monday August 3 from 4-5.30pm.
She said: “One of the best parts of being Lord Mayor is having the opportunity to meet so many of the wonderful people of Leeds.
“I cannot wait to join them on the day at Creams and have a chat over a lovely cup of tea and selection of tasty treats.”
This event is the first in what will be an activity-packed year of fundraising for SAS by the Lord Mayor, throughout her 2015-2016 term of office.
As reported last week in the YEP, the charity is a cause close to her heart as her daughter Harriet, 36, was diagnosed three years ago with autism and uses the charity’s services.
SAS currently supports over 200 adults from its bases, including Dewsbury Road, near Hunslet, and Otley, helping them to develop social skills, confidence and, ultimately, employability. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/lmca.
