Zoe, who plays vet Rhona Goskirk in the ITV soap and is an ambassador for the Boston Spa hospice, cut the ribbon to reopen the shop after a major refurbishment.

She said: “It’s wonderful to see such a bright, modern place, that brings a piece of the hospice into the community. I hope it is a huge success and that local people support it.”

The revamped shop features artwork created by Martin House artists-in-residence which also adorns the walls of the Boston Spa hospice, along with a shabby chic look.

Martin House cares for children and young people with life-limiting conditions from West, North and East Yorkshire – and their families – at the hospice, in hospital and in their own homes.

Kathrine Gray, shop manager, said: “We’re so excited by the new look of the shop, it’s so fresh and modern, and we particularly love that we have artwork from Martin House here. Our volunteers all love how it looks now, and we hope our customers enjoy shopping here.”

Martin House has 11 shops and a furniture warehouse, and is always in need of donations and more volunteers. To find your nearest shop visit www.martinhouse.org.uk
