Young animal lovers at a Meanwood school were given top tips on how to care for their school’s pets by a pair of local experts.

Veterinary surgeon Ellie Newall and nurse Laura Buckley, of Holly House Vet Hospital in Moortown, visited Carr Manor Community Primary School’s reception class to talk about animal care and what vets do.

They also gave a check-up to the school’s pets: Jack the guinea pig, Emma the tortoise and Kadie the rabbit.

Teacher Louise Moran said: “We’ve set up our own veterinary surgery area in the classroom so it was great to have real vets. I think we’ve a few budding vets in the class, so it was a wonderful experience for the children.”

Students Hanyi Jin, Beth Arscott, Amarjit Singh, and Kate Stevens in the exhibtion space.
