MORE than 1,000 Steampunk enthusiasts descended on Armley Mills Museum in Leeds at the weekend.

Steampunk is a science fiction sub-genre mixing Victoriana and modernity.

Many of the visitors to the two-day Steampunk Fair – which featured more than 50 stalls – were dressed for the event.

Lesley Durkin, who works in site development at the museum, said: “There were some impressive outfits worn by people ranging from children to pensioners. Some of the costumes were excellent.”
